KONTEK Systems helps clients integrate audio/video technology in elegant, effective ways that are simple to use. Since our founding in 1988, our client list has grown to include many of North Carolina's most prestigious research universities, medical centers, corporations, and arts facilities. Those clients seek us out for:

  • our unusually talented design staff. We find creative solutions to the most difficult room and system design problems, and we bring a high level of architectural sensitivity to issues of room layout, interior design, lighting, and acoustics.
  • our deep technical and engineering bench. With services including software development, custom wood and metal fabrication, CAD production, and field support, KONTEK is large enough to handle the biggest regional projects but small enough to provide personal and attentive customer service.
  • our low key sales approach. We have no commissioned sales staff, and work as a team to meet our clients' needs. We limit our practice to design, installation, and support of permanent a/v systems, and we often find small projects to be just as interesting and challenging as large ones.
  • our commitment to responsive, personal customer service and long term relationships. We understand that our clients cannot afford downtime and need immediate attention when their systems experience problems. We know that new technology can be intimidating to non-technical users, and so we place great emphasis on training, documentation, and support.

KONTEK's headquarters in Durham was chosen to give us 30-minute access to the greater Research Triangle area. We generally limit our projects to North Carolina, because we believe it's important to have a strong on-site presence during construction and to be able to respond quickly to service calls for the life of a system.

Most KONTEK projects are structured in a design/build mode, which allows us to guarantee the performance of every system and provides the owner with a single point of responsibility. Because we represent over 100 major manufacturers of equipment including such prestigious lines as Crestron, Extron, NEC, Cisco and Polycom, we have tools to solve almost any design challenge.

KONTEK's design awards include two Presentations Magazine “Best Presentation Rooms” certificates. KONTEK is a member of the a/v trade associations ICIA and NSCA. With a strong commitment to training & development, KONTEK's design, programming, installation, and service staff maintain ICIA certification in their individual fields of expertise as well as manufacturer certification from our primary equipment suppliers.

It is almost cliche to talk about your workgroup being like family, but it rings true at KONTEK. We work hard together and take care of each other. We have fun together. More than 70% of our staff have worked together for at least 5 years and almost a quarter of us have been at KONTEK for more than a decade.
